| Saw
The saw was opposite tactic to the wedge. This was a detached unit, immediately behind the font line, capable of fast sideways movement down the length of the line to block any holes which might appear to develop a thrust where there might be a sign of weakness.
Skirmishing Formation
The skirmishing formation was a widely spaced line up of troops. Not precisely a specific tactic, but a method of placing your troops.
Wedge
The Wedge was commonly used by Jedi Commanders leading a squad to break through a Sith position. One unit (normally the Jedi) would be at the tip of the formation, leading the wedge to pierce the enemy position. If succesfull, a wedge will open up a spot for the rest of the troops to break through and sometimes split the enemy army in two.

| Orb The orb is a defensive postition in the shape of a circle taken by a unit in desperate straits. It allows for a reasonably effective defence even if parts of an army have been divided in battle and would have required a very high level discipline by the individual soldiers.
Pincer Movement
One of the most commonly utilized tactics, in both large and small scale warfare. Basically, one unit would be left in the center while two other flanks would go around and envelope the opposing army from two both sides.

| Rectangle/square
Infantry on outsides, forming a square/rectangle formation. Heavy armor and light armor form up behind them, follow by artillery, and finally medical and comm's detail. Allows for effective defensive fighting, and fast counter attack.
